Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday apprehended a woman assistant engineer of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) while she was accepting a bribe of ₹1.2 lakh at the Kapra Circle office.
The accused, identified as Sarupa, had allegedly demanded the bribe from contractor Ram Reddy for clearing a pending bill. Following repeated demands, the contractor approached the ACB and lodged a complaint.
Based on the complaint, ACB officials set up a trap and caught Sarupa red-handed while receiving the amount. The full sum was recovered from her possession. She was taken into custody and a case has been filed.
ACB officials confirmed that further investigation is underway.
