Hyderabad: Ghatkesar Police have cracked the high-profile Edulabad pond murder case, arresting three family members identified as Mohammad Javeed Hussain (24), his lover Vadluri Manisha (25), and her mother Vadluri Sharadha (40) in connection with the killing of security guard Lingam (45), whose body was found in Edulabad Lake on July 7.
Police reports allege the trio conspired to murder Lingam due to his objection to Manisha’s relationship with Javeed and constant harassment of his wife Sharadha. Acting on this motive, the accused drugged Lingam’s toddy with sleeping pills on July 6, strangled him with a rope and broom, and abandoned his body in the lake.
Investigators found tell-tale items at the scene, including Lingam’s rings, blood-stained clothing, a security cap, and a yellow nylon thread. The accused also surrendered their smartphones and Javeed’s bike was seized.
According to the FIR (Cr. No. 393/2025), Sharadha filed a complaint after recognising the body via a WhatsApp image, prompting the investigation. Forensic analysis uncovered their premeditated plan, from drugging to body disposal, including a halted taxi drop-off during the disposal attempt.
“Its classification as a hate murder stems from illicit intimacy and familial interference,” stated investigators. The trio have been booked under sections 103(1), 238, and 217 of the BNS Criminal Code following the CID report.
The investigation, led by Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu and DCP P.V. Padmaja, was carried out with close supervision from Malkajgiri’s ADCP and ACP. The case was handled by a dedicated team from Ghatkesar PS and Rachakonda IT core staff.
