Hyderabad: NITI Aayog Additional Secretary Rohit Kumar said the development initiatives implemented in Gattu Block of Jogulamba Gadwal district can serve as a model for other districts.
He made the remarks at a Regional Best Practices Seminar organised in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
Officials from several states attended the programme. They shared successful practices implemented in their districts.
Education initiatives in Gattu Block highlighted
During the seminar, Jogulamba Gadwal Collector Rizwan Basha Shaik presented innovative measures implemented in Gattu Block, which is part of the Aspirational Block Programme.
He said student attendance in the mandal had remained low in previous years. Academic performance had also been a concern.
Therefore, the district administration prepared a focused action plan and implemented it through coordinated efforts.
Authorities introduced several measures to improve learning outcomes. These included appointing education volunteers and conducting special evening classes.
Officials also organised motivational programmes for students. In addition, they held regular meetings with parents.
Special teams worked to bring school dropouts back to classrooms. Moreover, schools began providing nutritious morning food in addition to the mid-day meal.
As a result, attendance in government schools increased significantly. Academic performance also improved.
The Collector said Class 10 results stood at 76 percent two years ago. Since then, the results have improved by nearly 10 percent.
The district administration now aims to achieve more than 95 percent results in the coming years.
Appreciating these efforts, Rohit Kumar presented a memento to Collector Rizwan Basha Shaik for implementing best practices in Gattu Block.
Representatives from six states participated in the seminar. Teams from five states presented notable initiatives in the education sector.
Among them, Telangana’s Gattu Block initiatives received recognition.
The programme was attended by NITI Aayog Deputy Secretary Gaurav Katiyar, Andhra Pradesh Planning Department official Anant Shekhar, district collectors from various states and senior officials.
