Hyderabad: Gaddam Ananya elected Vikarabad Chairperson after she was unanimously chosen as the sole nominee for the post in Vikarabad Municipality on Monday.
The Congress party councillor from Ward 17 and daughter of Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar assumed office following the formal election process. Officials confirmed that she was the only candidate nominated for the position.
Election Officer Sudhir administered the oath of office to her after declaring her elected. Consequently, the process concluded without a contest.
Following the development, the council elected Ardha Sudhakar Reddy, councillor from Ward 10, as the Vice Chairman of the municipality.
Gaddam Ananya elected Vikarabad Chairperson as sole nominee
Officials stated that the election to the Municipal Chairperson’s post proceeded with only one valid nomination. Therefore, Gaddam Ananya elected Vikarabad Chairperson without opposition.
The oath-taking ceremony took place in the presence of municipal officials and elected representatives. Election Officer Sudhir conducted the formal proceedings and administered the oath as per protocol.
Meanwhile, Ardha Sudhakar Reddy secured the position of Vice Chairman after the councilors extended their support to him. He represented Ward 10 in the municipal council.
Gaddam Ananya elected Vikarabad Chairperson in presence of Speaker
Vikarabad MLA and Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar attended the meeting as an ex-officio member. During the occasion, he congratulated Gaddam Ananya, Ardha Sudhakar Reddy, and the other council members.
Furthermore, he conveyed his best wishes to the newly elected Chairperson and Vice Chairman for their tenure. The meeting concluded after the completion of the oath-taking and election formalities.
With this, Gaddam Ananya elected Vikarabad Chairperson formally assumed charge of the municipality’s leadership on Monday.
