HYDERABAD: A five-member gang involved in the kidnapping and sale of a five-year-old girl was arrested by the Chandrayangutta police. The police successfully rescued the child and handed her over safely to her parents.
The case details were disclosed on Thursday at the Chandrayangutta Police Station by DCP (Southeast Zone) Patil Kantilal Subhash, along with ACP Manoj Kumar and Inspector Gurunath.
The accused, Syed Javed Pasha (51) and his wife Shayista Parveen (40), residents of Saleem Nagar in the Old City, allegedly abducted the girl from Chandrayangutta on 20 April. The couple then sold the child to a woman named Parveen residing in Uppal for ₹1.3 lakh.
Following a complaint filed by the girl’s parents when she went missing, the Chandrayangutta police launched an investigation. With the help of CCTV footage, they were able to identify and trace the suspects.
Upon interrogation, the arrested couple confessed that they had kidnapped the girl with the help of Sujatha and Rajendra Prasad, and subsequently sold her in Uppal. Police investigations further revealed that Sujatha and Rajendra Prasad had previously served prison sentences in Mumbai in a similar child trafficking case.
All five accused have been taken into custody, and the rescued girl has been reunited with her parents in a safe condition.
