Hyderabad: A devastating road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district has claimed the lives of five people and left two others critically injured, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Vaddesaluru village of Rangampeta mandal when a car heading from Uppada Beach towards Kakinada collided head-on with a tanker. The impact was so severe that five occupants of the car died instantly.
Two others who were travelling in the same vehicle sustained grievous injuries and were rushed to Kakinada Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Police rushed to the scene upon receiving information, cleared the wreckage, and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination. Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding may have been the cause of the crash.
Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy. The accident has left the local community in shock, with families mourning the sudden loss of their loved ones.
