Hyderabad: A sub-inspector of police posted at Film Nagar police station died in a road accident on NH-65 near Cheriyal in Kandi mandal during the early hours of Thursday.
The victim, Rajeshwar (59), was a resident of Chanikyapuri Colony in Sangareddy. He was returning home after performing duty at Balkampet Bonalu celebrations when his car was hit by a speeding lorry. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital but succumbed to injuries during treatment an hour later.
Rajeshwar had joined the Film Nagar police station only a week ago. He had joined the police department as a constable in 1990 and was survived by his wife and two children.
Police have registered a case and shifted the body to the government hospital in Sangareddy for postmortem.
