Hyderabad: A midnight paddy theft attempt in Rangapet village of Manakondur mandal, Karimnagar district, created tension on Friday. Two men allegedly tried to steal paddy bags from the IKP centre.
Farmers foil paddy theft attempt in Rangapet
The thieves were loading around 20 paddy bags onto a Tata Ace vehicle when farmers nearby noticed the activity. Acting swiftly, the farmers rushed to the spot and intercepted the suspects. They caught one of the thieves and handed him over to the police after thrashing him.
Police identified the arrested man as Jahid from Manakondur. Based on a complaint from the farmers, the police registered a case and began an investigation.
Police intensify search for absconding suspect
One suspect managed to escape during the confrontation. Police teams have launched a search operation to trace him.
The incident triggered anger among villagers, who expressed concern over frequent paddy thefts from the IKP storage centre at night. Farmers demanded tighter security to prevent further thefts.
