Excise staff urged to strengthen health sahayata scheme

Hyderabad: Prohibition and Excise Commissioner C Harikiran urged excise department employees to work collectively to strengthen the excise health sahayata scheme.

He addressed the general body meeting of the Health Sayahta Association held at Abkari Bhavan on Tuesday. Harikiran said the scheme played a crucial role in employee welfare.

He said nearly 75 per cent of excise staff, from constable to sub-inspector ranks, were members of the scheme. He added that the scheme proved especially helpful during medical emergencies.

The commissioner said the department reduced the loan interest rate under the scheme from 12 per cent to 10 per cent. He said the scheme helped employees meet urgent treatment expenses.

He also said the excise health sahayata scheme supported staff who required financial assistance through loans.

Harikiran said the department provided ₹1 lakh as ex-gratia to the families of employees who died while in service. He said this support offered relief during difficult times.

The general body resolved to appoint the Joint Commissioner (Enforcement) as secretary of the Health Saheyata Association. Members also decided to fill vacancies caused by retirement or death.

The meeting further resolved to provide representation to TGBCL employees in the health sahayata scheme.

Additional Commissioner Qureshi attended the meeting. Deputy Commissioners J. Harikishan of Medak, P. Dasarath of Ranga Reddy, Anjan Rao of Warangal, and Srinivas Reddy of Nalgonda were present. Assistant Commissioner Chandraiah also attended.
