Hyderabad: The BC bandh demanding a fair share in reservations for Backward Classes continued across Telangana on Saturday. Except for emergency services, almost all sectors remained closed in support of the BC JAC call.
BC bandh disrupts RTC services in Hyderabad
In Hyderabad, RTC buses stayed inside depots throughout the day. As a result, regular commuters faced travel difficulties. Meanwhile, BC leaders staged protests at MGBS, Rajendranagar, Dilsukhnagar, Bandlaguda, Hayathnagar, Barkatpura, and Ibrahimpatnam depots. The buses did not move even once during the day.
Etala Rajender joins the protest at Jubilee Bus Station
At the Jubilee Bus Station, BJP MP Etala Rajender sat in protest with BC leaders. He extended full support to the bandh and addressed the media at the site. During his speech, he demanded Tamil Nadu-style reservations to ensure that BCs receive a fair and stable share in political and social life.
Moreover, Rajender said BCs must get representation not only in job quotas but also in the Legislature and the Cabinet. He questioned why the Centre had failed to cooperate with states seeking stronger reservation laws.
‘OBC should be CM if BJP forms government’
Rajender declared that if the BJP came to power in Telangana, it would appoint an OBC Chief Minister. According to him, political power should now return to the Backward Classes.
Furthermore, he criticised the state government for playing “political dramas” instead of taking concrete steps. He urged leaders to act responsibly and increase BC reservations through practical measures. Therefore, he said, genuine effort alone could deliver justice to BCs and strengthen their political voice.
