Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Saturday directed the Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) to take a leading role in environment protection and pollution control efforts across the state.
Chairing the EPTRI Board of Governors meeting at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat, the Chief Secretary emphasised the need to strengthen climate-related internships, awareness campaigns, and research programs in collaboration with institutions like JNTU and Osmania University.

He instructed officials to scale up training, capacity-building, and research activities while integrating eco-friendly initiatives into government schemes. The discussions covered industrial sustainability, urban environmental planning, solid waste management, and pollution control strategies for air and water.
Rao also stressed the use of modern technologies to enhance Telangana’s green cover and encouraged innovation-driven programs that align with state development goals.
Senior officials, including Forest Principal Secretary Ahmed Nadeem, Finance Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Irrigation Principal Secretary Rahul Tejja, and MAUD Secretary T.K. Sridevi, attended the meeting alongside other board members.
