Hyderabad: BJP MP Eatala Rajender on Saturday opposed the proposal to merge parts of Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation with the proposed Secunderabad Municipal Corporation. The demand was recently raised by BRS leader and former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
Addressing the media, Rajender said all corporators in Malkajgiri represent areas within the Malkajgiri district, not Secunderabad. He argued that Malkajgiri, which holds the distinction of being the most populous Lok Sabha constituency in India, must retain its separate civic identity.

Rajender said he respects the history and importance of Secunderabad but opposed any move that dilutes the Malkajgiri name. “Why didn’t Talasani declare Secunderabad a separate corporation when the BRS was in power?” he asked.
The MP criticised the Congress-led state government, alleging irregularities in the reorganisation of municipal divisions and the reservation process. He accused the government of pushing for early municipal elections to claim funds from the Centre.
Despite the political turbulence, Rajender said the BJP had strong support in urban local bodies across Telangana. He expressed confidence that the party would perform well in the upcoming municipal elections.
