DK Aruna accuses Congress of betraying BCs over local body reservations in Telangana

Hyderabad: BJP MP DK Aruna on Friday accused the Congress government of deceiving Backward Classes and the public over BC reservation in Telangana. Speaking to reporters in Mahabubnagar, she said the ruling party lacked honesty in implementing the quota.

Aruna said the government’s entire policy on BC reservations was flawed. “I had already said the GO on BC quota would not stand in court,” she remarked. She charged that the state government had cheated both BCs and the people with false promises.

The BJP MP said the Supreme Court’s recent judgment on BC reservation came as no surprise. She alleged that Congress launched a political drama before the local body elections only to gain sympathy.

Aruna also accused the Congress of trying to malign the BJP on the issue of BC reservations in Telangana. She reminded that the BJP had supported the BC Bill in the Assembly. “If that is true, how can Congress leaders now say BJP opposed BC reservations?” she asked.

Calling such claims ridiculous, Aruna said Congress leaders were misleading the media and the public for political mileage.
