DGP Shivdhar Reddy directs CID to focus on rising crime trends across Telangana

Hyderabad: Telangana DGP B. Shivdhar Reddy has directed the CID to intensify efforts to track and control recurring criminal incidents across the state. He emphasised the need to focus on high-frequency crimes that are causing public concern.

At a review meeting held at the DGP’s office on Saturday, Shivdhar Reddy assessed the functioning of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in the presence of top CID officials. The meeting covered performance across various internal units such as SCRB, PCR, Center of Excellence, CCNS, and the Women Safety Wing.

Officials also examined five-year crime trends and discussed the nature of rising offences district-wise. The DGP asked CID teams to analyse murders, suicides, thefts, assaults, and fraud cases based on their type to develop targeted interventions.

He stressed the need to gather detailed profiles of active theft gangs. In cases of road accidents, police should probe driver error, and where eyesight issues are suspected, relevant departments must arrange vision testing, especially for police drivers.

The meeting included CID ADGP Charu Sinha, DIG Narayana Naik, and SPs Vishwajit Kampati, Sangram Singh G. Patil, Madipati Srinivas, Venkatalakshmi, Ramireddy, and Srinivas, among others.
