Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has lauded Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his “large-hearted leadership” and proactive measures to uplift Scheduled Castes (SCs) in Telangana.
Addressing students at an award ceremony for SC Gurukul schools, Vikramarka said the Congress government has gone beyond token gestures, investing substantial resources under the SC Sub-Plan for the holistic development of marginalised communities.
He sharply criticised the previous BRS regime, accusing it of neglecting SC welfare during its tenure. “It was only after the Congress came to power that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy took decisive steps and released generous funds for the betterment of SC communities,” he said.
Underscoring the government’s wider mission, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that welfare is now central to the administration’s agenda under Revanth Reddy’s leadership. “We didn’t win the elections by misleading voters with hollow promises,” he said. “Every commitment made before the polls has been fulfilled.”
As part of this commitment, the state government is establishing 104 new integrated schools for SC, ST, BC, and minority students. Vikramarka emphasised that education and empowerment of these sections remain a top priority.
He also noted that soon after assuming office, the Congress administration raised the cosmetic charges for Gurukul and welfare hostel students by 200%, signalling a shift towards meaningful support for students’ day-to-day needs.
