December 22 set for first gram panchayat meetings across Telangana

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has scheduled December 22, 2025, for the first meetings of newly elected gram panchayats across the state. Dr G. Sreejana, Director of Panchayat Raj and Rural Employment, issued the official notice on Wednesday.

This date applies to all panchayats where polling followed the State Election Commission’s schedule issued on November 25. The new order replaces a previous notice dated December 9, 2025.

These meetings will mark the start of local governance for the new bodies. Members are expected to choose their leaders and discuss development priorities for their villages.

Most gram panchayat meetings in Telangana to begin on December 22

However, gram panchayats where polling did not conclude by December 17 will not hold their first meetings on this date. Officials said separate dates will be announced for those villages.

The updated schedule follows the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018, which ensures the timely formation of local self-governments after elections.
