DCP Chaitanya attacked by phone snatcher in Sultan Nagar; fires in self-defense

Hyderabad: South East Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Chaitanya was injured in a knife attack by a phone snatcher in Sultan Nagar, Hyderabad, on Saturday. The senior officer, who was engaged in a scuffle with the accused, managed to open fire in self-defense before being taken to hospital.

According to initial reports, DCP Chaitanya confronted the assailant during a phone snatching attempt. During the altercation, the attacker used a knife, causing the officer to fall. In response, Chaitanya fired three rounds to repel the assault.

He was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment. Doctors confirmed that his condition is stable and he is out of danger.

Police launch manhunt for assailant

Following the incident, Hyderabad police launched a search operation to track down the accused. Teams have been deployed across nearby areas, and CCTV footage is being reviewed for leads.
