Hyderabad: A woman died by suicide and her father-in-law succumbed to a heart attack hours later in Avatapoor village under Peddavangara mandal of Mahabubabad district on Thursday, triggering grief across the area.
According to locals and relatives, Vemula Santosh (40), working as a CRP in Peddavangara mandal, had married Jhansi (35) from Mancherial 15 years ago. The couple had two children, son Akhil Tej and daughter Abhidamini. Jhansi was employed as a teacher at a private school in Thorrur division.
Two days ago, a staff meeting was held at the school where Jhansi faced severe reprimand from the management over her performance. Upset, she told her husband she would not return to work.
Distressed over the incident, Jhansi hanged herself at home on Thursday afternoon when no one was present. Locals who noticed alerted family members, who rushed her to a hospital in Thorrur, but doctors declared her dead.
Hearing of Jhansi’s death, her father-in-law, Vemula Lakshman (60), suffered a heart attack at home and died on the spot.
The double tragedy within hours left Avatapoor village in deep mourning, with neighbours and relatives in shock over the deaths in a single family.
