Cyberabad police arrest 12 in pan-India cyber fraud crackdown

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Cybercrime Police arrested 12 individuals in connection with nine cyber fraud cases reported between January 30 and February 5, 2026. The action disrupted a coordinated scam network operating across the country.

The cases included five online trading frauds with seven arrests, two job scams with three arrests, one part-time job fraud, and one matrimony-related scam. Cyberabad cybercrime Police also obtained court-approved refund orders totaling ₹1.04 crore in 58 separate cases, returning the money to victims.

In one major case, fraudsters conned a woman out of ₹20.8 lakh through a fake job offer. The gang impersonated a multinational company, conducted fake interviews, and collected fees under the pretext of recruitment. They routed the funds through mule bank accounts before disappearing. Police arrested two suspects from Delhi — Purshotam Sharma and Kuldeep Kumar, also known as Sunil.

Officials warned the public not to pay for job offers. Victims can report cyber fraud by calling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in.
