Hyderabad: The Cyberabad drunk driving enforcement drive conducted over the weekend led to the apprehension of 281 offenders, the Cyberabad Traffic Police said.
Officials carried out special checks across key junctions under the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits. As a result, police booked 224 two-wheeler riders, eight three-wheeler drivers, 42 four-wheeler drivers and seven heavy vehicle drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities also classified offenders based on Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels. According to the data, 246 offenders recorded BAC levels between 36 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml. Another 19 offenders had BAC levels ranging from 201 mg/100 ml to 300 mg/100 ml. In addition, 16 offenders showed BAC levels between 301 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml.

All those booked during the Cyberabad drunk driving enforcement drive will be produced before the Hon’ble Court, police said. The department reiterated that drunk driving is a serious offence and warned of stringent legal action in fatal cases.
Police stated that if any person drives in an inebriated condition and causes a fatal accident, authorities will book the accused under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The section carries a maximum punishment of 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine.
Meanwhile, between 23.02.2026 and 28.02.2026, courts disposed of 218 drunk driving cases. Of these, 13 persons received fine and jail sentences, five persons were awarded fine along with social service, and 200 persons were penalised with fine only.
