CPGET 2025 registrations from June 18, notification out Wednesday

Hyderabad: The notification for CPGET 2025, the gateway for postgraduate admissions across Telangana’s state universities, is scheduled for release on Wednesday. Osmania University, which has once again been entrusted with conducting the entrance exam, will also oversee the admissions process this year.

At 3:30 PM, Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) Chairman Prof. V. Balakista Reddy and OU Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Kumar will formally announce the notification. Admissions through CPGET cover popular PG programmes including MA, MSc, and MCom.

Prof. I. Pandu Ranga Reddy has been appointed as the convener for this year’s test. Officials have confirmed that registration for the first phase will begin on June 18, coinciding with the release of the official information brochure.

For the 2025 cycle, authorities are introducing several changes to the admission framework. This time, seat allotment will take place in three phases. Importantly, the reservation quota for persons with disabilities is being increased from 1 in 30 seats to a full 5%.

Following the conclusion of the unified quota system, seats reserved for Andhra Pradesh students have been trimmed by 15%. Candidates from AP will now have to compete under the non-local quota in Telangana universities.

There are over 50,000 PG seats available across eight universities in the state, including allocations for Economically Weaker Sections. However, enrolment data from previous years paints a concerning picture only about 22,000 to 23,000 of these seats are filled annually, leaving nearly 27,000 vacant.

Despite the scale of opportunity, officials say thousands of seats remain unclaimed each year, underscoring the need for greater awareness and participation among eligible students.
