CP Sajjanar warns influencers against online betting, fake lucky draws

Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar on Monday warned social media influencers against promoting online betting and fake lucky draw schemes. He said cheating people for money would lead to legal trouble.

Sajjanar, who often uses social media to alert citizens about cyber fraud, expressed anger over influencers misleading followers. He said influencers should use their reach for good causes instead of spreading false offers.

According to Sajjanar, fake ads and false promises were causing losses to many people, especially young users. Therefore, he urged influencers to act responsibly and respect the trust of their followers.

Online betting scams: Sajjanar cautions influencers and public

In a post on X, Sajjanar said people followed influencers believing their words. So, he asked them to post useful and honest content. At the same time, he warned that earning money by cheating others would end badly.

He said those who ignore the law would suffer losses in the end. Further, he reminded influencers that they already knew when they were doing something wrong. He added that no one could escape the results of such actions.

Meanwhile, Sajjanar asked the public to stay alert against fake ads and lucky draw offers on social media. He advised users to check facts before trusting online posts.

Police officials said Hyderabad Police would keep a close watch on online betting ads and cyber fraud. As a result, action would follow against anyone found misleading the public on digital platforms.
