CP Sajanar warns of action against neglect of parents

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajanar warned of strict legal action against children who abandon or neglect their parents, citing a steady rise in complaints from senior citizens.

In recent weeks, several elderly people met him with serious grievances. According to Sajanar, many children were leaving their parents alone for various reasons, which deeply troubled him. Some cases, he said, caused intense emotional distress.

Several parents told police that their children transferred all property into their own names. Later, they confined the elderly to small rooms or forced them out of their homes. Others complained that their children left them on the streets after taking over assets. As a result, many senior citizens said daily survival had become difficult.

Meanwhile, Sajanar said some elderly people approached the police seeking help to enter old-age homes. He stressed that caring for parents was the basic duty of every child.

Further, he reminded people that everyone would grow old one day. He warned that children might face the same treatment in the future if they ignored their parents now.

Therefore, Sajanar said the police would not tolerate neglect or abuse of senior citizens. He added that the law would take strict action against offenders.

At the same time, he assured that the police department would stand by every elderly person in distress. He said senior citizens were not alone and stressed that their dignity, safety and well-being remained a top priority.
