Cordon and search operation in Balapur nets 17 rowdy sheeters

Hyderabad: Police conducted a large-scale cordon and search operation in Balapur on 14-02-2026 and detained 17 rowdy sheeters while seizing vehicles and illegal gas cylinders.

Sri B. Rajesh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shamshabad Zone, supervised the cordon-and-search operation. Sri DV Pradeep Kumar Reddy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Adibatla Division, also monitored the drive. Sri M. Sudhakar, Inspector of Police, Balapur, led the teams on the ground.

Police carried out the operation in Wadi-E-Saleheen and Shaheen Ngar areas within Balapur Police Station limits. More than 300 personnel took part in the drive. The force formed 10 search parties, 18 cut-off parties and 10 lifting parties. Officers also set up one holding point at Paradise Function Hall to process detainees.

In total, the teams searched nearly 800 houses during the cordon-and-search operation. As a result, officers apprehended 17 rowdy sheeters and identified 7 suspect sheet persons.

Seizures made during cordon and search operation

During the checks, police seized 27 two-wheelers without number plates or with improper number plates. They also impounded 2 auto-rickshaws. In addition, officers confiscated 9 illegal gas cylinders.

Police further detected one fry onion manufacturing unit that was operating without maintaining hygienic standards. Officials treated it as a food adulteration violation and initiated action as per the law.

Senior officers said the cordon and search operation proceeded smoothly. They stated that the objective was to curb criminal activity, enhance public safety and improve coordination between police and residents in the locality.
