Hyderabad: High drama unfolded near Hydernagar in Kukatpally on Wednesday when a contractor climbed a mobile tower in protest, alleging non-payment of dues by a private engineering firm.
Identified as Ramu, the man claimed to be a contractor associated with R&L Engineering. According to police, Ramu climbed the tower demanding immediate payment of ₹8 lakh, which he said the company owed him for completed contractual work. He accused the firm of cheating him and stated that he would not come down until the dues were settled.
Eyewitnesses reported that Ramu had brought a bottle of petrol with him and created a scene from atop the tower, further alarming onlookers and local residents.
Despite assurances from company representatives that the matter would be resolved and multiple attempts by KPHB police to persuade him, Ramu remained on the tower.
As of last reports, efforts were still ongoing to convince him to climb down safely.
