HYDERABAD: TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud asserted that the Congress party is the true symbol of social justice, ensuring fair representation for BC, SC, and ST communities in the party, government, and legislative bodies.
He emphasised that Congress had already allocated two MLC seats to BCs and one to a minority candidate. Additionally, when two Rajya Sabha seats became available, one was given to young BC leader Anil Kumar Yadav.
For the latest MLC elections, Congress secured four seats, allotting one to its ally CPI, which also nominated a BC candidate. Among the three Congress nominees, one belonged to the ST community, another to the SC community, and the third was a BC woman.
Mahesh Kumar Goud further highlighted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had ensured fair representation by appointing him, a BC leader, as TPCC president. He stressed that Congress consistently prioritises marginalised communities whenever an opportunity arises.
He also praised the Telangana government for conducting a caste census, revealing that BCs constitute 56% of the state’s population. He reaffirmed Congress’ commitment to introducing a bill in the Assembly and passing a resolution to push for a nationwide caste census.
Declaring that the Telangana government will serve as a role model for social justice, Mahesh Kumar Goud reiterated that Congress’ core ideology has always been rooted in social empowerment and equal opportunities.
