Hyderabad: In a major organisational rejig aimed at energising its Telangana unit, the Congress on Thursday unveiled five new committees under the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), bringing in a mix of senior leaders and grassroots workers for key roles.
The appointments, cleared by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and formalised through a release by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, are expected to serve as the backbone for the party’s preparations ahead of future elections in the state.
Among the most high-powered is the Political Affairs Committee, a 22-member panel that includes AICC Incharge Meenakshi Natrajan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Renuka Chowdhury, former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir and former cricketer-turned-politician Mohammad Azharuddin. The team will take charge of the party’s election blueprint and broader strategic push.
Party stalwarts like V. Hanumantha Rao, K. Jana Reddy, K. Kesava Rao, and Zafar Javeed make up the Advisory Committee, which will shape political direction and sharpen ideological messaging.
Constituency boundaries will now be redrawn by the Delimitation Committee, led by Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy. At the same time, civil rights and constitutional engagement will be championed by the newly created Samvidhan Bachao Program Committee, with P. Vinay Kumar at the helm.
To shore up internal discipline, a six-member Disciplinary Action Committee has been constituted with MP Mallu Ravi at the helm.
Altogether, the reshuffle reflects the Congress leadership’s bid to project cohesion, tighten organisational controls, and bring state-level planning in step with national directives. The decision to include cabinet ministers as special invitees to select panels is also being read as a move to better coordinate between the party’s political machinery and its presence in government.
