Congress MP demands full probe into all SCCL tenders since 2014

Hyderabad: Congress MP from Bhongir, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Friday urged Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy to order a full investigation into all tenders and procedures undertaken by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) since 2014. He said that a thorough SCCL tender probe is essential for accountability.

He welcomed the existing inquiry into the Naini Coal Block tender. However, he said a broader probe was needed to ensure full transparency and accountability in SCCL’s operations. According to the MP, only a comprehensive SCCL tender probe could achieve this goal.

MP calls for deeper inquiry to protect SCCL’s public trust

In a letter to the Union Minister, Kiran Kumar Reddy said restricting the probe to one cancelled tender would not expose larger systemic issues. He demanded that all tender processes and official decisions from the past decade be reviewed through an independent, high-level inquiry. This, he emphasized, would mean conducting an SCCL tender probe without limitations.

Earlier, the Centre ordered a probe into the Naini tender. A two-member panel—Chetana Shukla, Deputy Director General, and Marapalli Venkateshwarlu, Director (Technical)—is currently handling that investigation. In related news, the SCCL tender probe remains a pressing matter for many stakeholders.

The MP insisted that any irregularities uncovered during the process must be made public. He said this was vital for protecting SCCL’s credibility as a public sector company. He also urged that all tenders since 2014 be brought under formal review to improve transparency and restore public confidence.
