HYDERABAD: The Congress party has officially announced its candidates for the MLA quota MLC elections. Based on its strength in the Telangana Assembly, Congress secured four seats, of which one was allocated to the Communist Party of India (CPI) as per the promise made during the Assembly elections.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) issued a statement confirming the selection of Vijayashanthi, Addanki Dayakar, and Kethavath Shankar Nayak as the party’s MLC candidates.
The nomination process for the MLA quota MLC elections is set to begin tomorrow. The elections will be held on March 20, with vote counting scheduled for the same evening.
The AICC leadership conducted extensive discussions with Telangana Congress leaders before finalizing the candidates. Several senior leaders, including Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Uttam Kumar Reddy, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Reddy, and AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, participated in the discussions.
The deliberations were led by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, who finalised the candidates on Sunday evening.
