Hyderabad: Telangana government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the Congress government had prioritised education and was taking steps to strengthen the system across the state.
Shabbir Ali made the remarks while addressing the annual day celebrations of Srinidhi Group of Colleges at Lakshmidevi Garden in Kamareddy on Saturday. Shabbir Ali attended as chief guest, distributed graduation certificates to students and watched cultural programmes. He also congratulated students who performed well across disciplines.
He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was directly overseeing the Education Department. Therefore, he said the government had placed focused attention on improving standards and administration.
Congress education priority includes reforms and expansion
Shabbir Ali alleged that the education system had weakened over the past decade. Shabbir Ali said scholarships and fee reimbursement were not implemented during that period. He added that ₹3,500 crore in fee reimbursement dues remained pending during the BRS tenure.
However, he said the present government had begun clearing these dues in phases. It is also focusing on strengthening the education system. He said the government was working to establish a Sports University in Telangana. Additionally, it plans to construct integrated educational institutions on 25 acres in each constituency.
Shabbir Ali said the government had provided around 70,000 jobs so far. Shabbir Ali urged students to aim for careers such as IAS and IPS and bring recognition to Kamareddy at national and global levels.

He said the government allotted an engineering college to Telangana University after coming to power. He added that efforts were underway to develop Kamareddy into a study hub.
Earlier in the day, he paid floral tributes to social reformer Jyotirao Phule at the Kamareddy municipal premises on his death anniversary. Public representatives and officials attended the programme.
Later, he inspected and launched development works at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kamareddy. He said the government had sanctioned ₹8.90 crore to upgrade the stadium to international standards.
He directed officials to ensure quality and timely execution. The upgraded stadium will include a running track, a drainage system, galleries, an indoor stadium and a gym. It will also include a rifle shooting range and courts for volleyball, tennis and table tennis. Shabbir Ali added that a swimming pool would be considered after discussions with the Chief Minister.
Shabbir Ali said the Congress government aimed to promote sports and support rural talent for international platforms, including the Olympics. He added that authorities had sanctioned funds and commenced works, with a target to complete the project by September.
He said the upgraded facility would attract athletes from other districts and host national-level competitions. Officials, public representatives and students attended the programme in large numbers.
