Hyderabad: BJP MP Raghunandan Rao on Thursday accused the Congress government in Telangana of playing a “double game” on local body elections. He criticised the state’s indecision and delay in issuing the promised Government Order (GO) on 42% BC reservations.
Speaking at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanti celebrations held at the BJP district office in Siddipet, the MP said the Congress had failed to pass the GO despite repeated assurances. He questioned the move to cancel government teachers’ leaves and force them into election duties without legal clarity on the reservation policy.
Raghunandan Rao demanded that the state government reconsider its decision on staff leave, stating that pressuring employees under uncertainty is unjust.
Congress in confusion, says MP
The MP further alleged that the Congress came to power promising to recover funds looted during the BRS regime and redistribute them to the destitute. “Now they are directionless and confused,” he said.
He blamed the government’s financial crisis for its inability to implement welfare schemes. Highlighting civic issues, he pointed out that continuous rains have turned most roads except national highways into pothole-ridden stretches unfit for traffic.
He also criticised some individuals for continuing to misuse looted funds from the past regime. “They are managing media and making baseless statements,” he added.
BJP district president Bhairi Shankar Mudiraj, along with party leaders Vanga Ramachandra Reddy, Gundla Janardhan, Basangari Venkanna, and Kasunagottu Santosh, also participated in the event.
