Cold weather tightens grip across Telangana

Hyderabad: Telangana cold weather tightened its grip across the State over the past few days, with the Meteorological Department reporting a slight rise in chill intensity.

The department said fog intensified during early morning and night hours in several districts. As a result, motorists faced difficulties due to poor visibility on highways and interior roads. Officials recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius at Sirpur in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district.

Similar cold conditions prevailed in other parts of the State. Kohir in Sangareddy district recorded a minimum of 9.8 degrees Celsius. Serilingampally in Rangareddy district saw the mercury drop to 9.7 degrees Celsius. Uppal in Medchal–Malkajgiri district registered a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius.

Telangana cold weather persists as fog affects mornings

According to weather experts, low-level south-easterly and easterly winds led to the increase in cold intensity. Therefore, officials said similar conditions were likely to continue across the State for the next three days.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre advised people to remain cautious during early mornings and nights. It urged parents to take special care of children and the elderly. At the same time, officials said easterly winds could cause a slight rise in daytime temperatures.

Additionally, higher moisture levels in the air could trigger patchy fog during morning hours. As a result, agency and low-lying regions were expected to witness denser fog. Officials advised commuters to exercise caution while travelling during the early hours.
