CM Revanth Reddy greets people on Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy extended greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara and called for its grand celebration.

Calling it the world’s largest tribal congregation, the Chief Minister said the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara symbolised the self-respect of tribal communities. He also described the festival as the Telangana Kumbh Mela and urged devotees to observe the four-day event with devotion and discipline.

At the same time, Revanth Reddy said the state government had made elaborate arrangements for the jatara. He noted that more than one crore devotees were expected to attend the festival.

According to him, officials planned the arrangements to ensure smooth movement and safety for pilgrims. He added that the government focused on convenience and crowd management.

Moreover, the Chief Minister said the People’s Government rebuilt the Medaram temple complex on a historic scale. He recalled that the government allocated unprecedented funds and completed major development works.

Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara arrangements reviewed by CM

Revanth Reddy said the government spent ₹250 crore to expand the temple precincts. He stated that authorities constructed spacious gaddelu for Sammakka, Saralamma, Govindaraju and Pagididda Raju.

In addition, officials modernised the Sammakka Saralamma gaddela premises in line with tribal customs. They also erected ceremonial arches in all four directions.

Further, the Chief Minister said the government prioritised road development and permanent infrastructure. These measures, he explained, aimed to prevent inconvenience to lakhs of devotees arriving continuously at Medaram.

He asserted that protecting tribal culture and preserving Adivasi traditions remained a core responsibility of the state. He said the government had formally taken up this responsibility.

Recalling recent events, Revanth Reddy said the People’s Government came to power after a democratic struggle inspired by Sammakka and Saralamma. He noted that, for the first time in the state’s history, the Council of Ministers held a meeting at Medaram.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said the government completed all preparations for the four-day festival. As officials anticipated heavy footfall, he instructed all departments to work in close coordination.

From the United States, Revanth Reddy spoke to senior officials over the phone and reviewed preparedness. During the interaction, he directed officers to ensure that devotees faced no inconvenience.

Finally, he appealed to tribals, Adivasis and devotees from all states to offer prayers with devotion. He urged them to take holy dips in the Jampanna Vagu and cooperate to prevent any untoward incidents.

He also directed the police and all departments to work collectively. Officials, he said, must remain available round the clock and strictly follow the pre-decided action plan.
