Civil Supplies Commissioner inspects Hyderabad godowns, stresses PDS rice quality

Hyderabad: Civil Supplies inspection was conducted at Circle–IV (Nampally) and Circle–VI (Amberpet) MLS points by Principal Secretary and Ex-Officio Commissioner of Civil Supplies M. Stephen Raveendra, IPS, on 20.02.2026.

During the visit, he examined rice stocks meant for the Public Distribution System (PDS), government hostels and Anganwadi centres. He instructed godown in-charges to verify stocks at the time of receipt. He also directed them to ensure that only good-quality rice is distributed to beneficiaries.

The Commissioner announced that the Corporation was now supplying steam rice. He said this upgrade would improve cooking quality for students in welfare hostels and schools. Social Welfare officials present during the Civil Supplies inspection expressed satisfaction with the rice quality.

He also reviewed system transparency measures. He verified the Supply Chain Management system and cross-checked physical stock registers. In addition, he examined the GPS-based vehicle tracking system to ensure accountability.

Worker welfare focus during Civil Supplies inspection

Interacting with hamalies at the godowns, the Commissioner assured them that their request for accidental insurance would be examined sympathetically. He immediately directed the District Manager to provide a rest shed for the workers.

The Civil Supplies inspection was attended by District Manager K. Sai Arun and Additional District Manager Deepthi. Godown in-charges Gopala Krishna and Kiran were also present during the visit.
