Hyderabad: Police said a woman and her lover strangled and killed her husband in Chittoor’s Santapet area on October 6, then tried to stage the death as a suicide.
Officers registered a case after the victim’s mother filed a complaint. The deceased was identified as B. Venkatesh, who died on Durgammagudi Street. Investigators initially treated the death as suspicious. Later, however, they upgraded the case to murder following further enquiries.

Police questioned Venkatesh’s second wife, Tulasi Muniyamma alias Kavya (22), and discovered she had an extramarital relationship with Suresh (23). According to investigators, the affair began a few months after Kavya’s marriage.
They said Kavya and Suresh plotted the killing after Venkatesh confronted her about the relationship. While Venkatesh slept at home, the two allegedly strangled him with a rope. Afterwards, they attempted to hang the body to mimic suicide.
Detectives said their probe gathered evidence that linked Kavya and Suresh to the killing. Consequently, police confirmed that the death was a homicide and continued to advance the investigation.
Authorities have not disclosed whether they arrested the suspects. Instead, they said they were carrying the inquiry forward and would file charges if the evidence warranted prosecution.
