Hyderabad: State Planning Commission Vice Chairman Dr G Chinna Reddy met AICC chief and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi on Friday and discussed the political situation in Telangana.
The meeting took place at Indira Bhavan. Chinna Reddy presented a bouquet and outlined the Congress party’s recent electoral performance in the state.
He said that under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the party secured nearly 70 per cent of sarpanch posts and 90 per cent of municipal seats. According to him, the organisation continued to expand its base across Telangana.
Further, he conveyed that the party would maintain the same momentum in the upcoming MPTC and ZPTC elections. He said leaders and public representatives were working in coordination.
He added that the AICC leadership appreciated the collective efforts of the state unit in strengthening the party structure.
Mallikarjun Kharge told of Rajya Sabha assurance
During the interaction, Chinna Reddy reminded Mallikarjun Kharge of an assurance given two years ago during the Assembly elections. At that time, he said, he had returned the Congress B-Form for the Wanaparthy constituency.
He stated that the leadership had then assured him of an opportunity to enter the Rajya Sabha. Therefore, he requested that the earlier commitment be honoured.
Chinna Reddy said he formally placed the matter before the party president during the meeting. He urged the high command to stand by the promise made to him.
The discussion also covered organisational matters and future political strategy in Telangana. Chinna Reddy reiterated his commitment to strengthening the party in the state.
