Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K. Rama Krishna Rao on December 19, 2025, reviewed the state-level mock exercise on floods and industrial accident disasters through a video conference organised by the Telangana government with the National Disaster Management Authority.
While addressing officials during the preparatory tabletop exercise, Rama Krishna Rao said the review was necessary as Telangana had witnessed sudden floods in recent years. He also said the state had faced a few major industrial accidents, which exposed gaps in preparedness.
Therefore, the Chief Secretary asked all departments to treat the exercise seriously. He urged officials to strengthen skills, resources, and response systems. He said better coordination would help meet future challenges. At the same time, he appreciated the NDMA for its guidance and coordination.

State-level mock exercise to test disaster preparedness
Rama Krishna Rao said the state would conduct the full-scale mock exercise on December 22, 2025. According to him, the drill would focus on two scenarios: floods and industrial accidents.
Officials said the exercise aimed to strengthen preparedness at the state, district, and departmental levels. Moreover, it would help operationalise the incident response system. It would also improve inter-departmental coordination. The drill would test emergency support functions and assess the roles of SDMA, TG ICCC, SDRF, district collectors, and other agencies.
During the meeting, NDMA members explained the modalities of the mock exercise.
The review meeting was attended by the Director General of Fire Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence, Vikram Singh Mann. NDMA member Lieutenant General Ata Hussain and Major General Sudhir Bahl, Lead Consultant for Mock Exercises and Incident Response Systems, also took part. Meanwhile, Revenue Secretary and In-charge Special Chief Secretary for Disaster Management Lokesh Kumar, joined the session.
