Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy accused BRS leaders of spreading BRS drought claims for political gain. He alleged that opposition leaders wanted drought to affect Telangana. Moreover, he accused them of circulating false information instead of showing concern for the public.
Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, the Bhongir MP criticised BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao. Chamala accused KTR of making irresponsible remarks. He also mocked KTR’s beard, questioning whether it reflected greater maturity.
Meanwhile, the Congress MP raised concerns about the Medigadda barrage. He said the structure was not in a condition to store water. His remarks came amid concerns over El Niño and its potential impact on Telangana.
BRS drought claims prompt call for all-party meeting
Against this backdrop, Chamala announced an all-party meeting for October 28 to discuss Telangana’s situation amid El Niño concerns. He said representatives would share their views before the government decided on further action.
Furthermore, he said the government would consider suggestions from all sides. However, he did not specify what measures might follow the meeting.
Chamala’s criticism centred on the BRS drought claims, the condition of the Medigadda barrage and the need for political consultation. Accordingly, the proposed meeting would provide a forum to discuss the state’s situation. The all-party meeting was scheduled for October 28.
