CEO orders expedited voter progeny mapping survey in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The voter progeny mapping survey in Hyderabad must be intensified and completed on priority, Chief Electoral Officer Sudarshan Reddy directed officials on Saturday.

He instructed Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to expedite the ongoing exercise. The survey forms part of preparations for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

Accompanied by Hyderabad District Election Officer R.V. Karnan, the CEO conducted a surprise inspection in the Secunderabad Assembly constituency. He visited polling station No. 211 at Manikeshwar Nagar and later inspected polling station No. 12 in the Charminar Assembly constituency.

During the field visit, Sudarshan Reddy interacted with Booth Level Officers and supervisors. He reviewed their understanding of the voter progeny mapping survey and examined the methodology being followed.

BLOs informed him that they were carrying out door-to-door verification. They compared entries in the 2002 electoral roll with the 2025 draft roll. As part of the process, they collected details of family members of voters listed in 2002 and cross-verified them with the current roll.

CEO reviews progress of voter progeny mapping survey

Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers briefed the CEO on constituency-wise progress. They outlined the pace of verification and data collection.

Addressing the officials, Sudarshan Reddy said the voter progeny mapping survey must strictly follow guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India. He stressed that the work should be accurate, transparent and comprehensive.

He also directed officials to complete the exercise within the stipulated timeframe. According to him, the Special Intensive Revision aims to strengthen the integrity and credibility of the voter database in Telangana.

Additional Commissioner (Elections) Chandrakala, EROs Sarita and Anjaneyulu, and AEROs Sudheer Reddy were present during the inspection.
