Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday said the Centre is fully committed to a Telangana growth partnership to accelerate the state’s development. Speaking at the Telangana Rising Global Summit, he described Hyderabad as a city that blends “technology and tradition, science and spirituality.”
He emphasised that India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 depends on robust Centre–state cooperation and healthy competition among states. Since 2014, India has witnessed significant progress in poverty reduction, digital infrastructure, startup expansion, and investor confidence, he added.
Hyderabad a cornerstone in India’s economic growth
Describing Hyderabad as an IT hub, innovation corridor, and a centre for pharmaceuticals and aerospace technology, Reddy said the city’s brand must be strengthened. He shared that India attracted $748.78 billion in FDI from 2014 to 2025 a 143% increase over the previous decade. According to him, policy reforms have improved transparency, governance, and infrastructure, boosting investor trust.
India now ranks second in global mobile phone manufacturing. Defence exports have grown from ₹686 crore to ₹23,622 crore, while the number of airports has doubled from 74 to 160.
Centre has invested over ₹10 lakh crore in Telangana
Reddy said the Centre has channelled more than ₹10 lakh crore into Telangana through taxes, schemes, and infrastructure projects. This includes ₹1.5 lakh crore for National Highways and ₹32,000 crore for railway works such as doubling, tripling, and electrification. Another ₹2,500 crore is allocated for revamping 42 railway stations. The Kazipet Rail Coach Factory, worth ₹521 crore, is nearing completion.
He added that the 1,600 MW NTPC Ramagundam plant is now operational. A new 2,400 MW NTPC plant is also planned. The PM Mitra Textile Park in Warangal is expected to create one lakh jobs. Additionally, the Zaheerabad Industrial Corridor is advancing with an investment of ₹2,300 crore.
Several premier institutions including AIIMS Bibinagar, IIT Hyderabad, DRDO, HAL, BDL, and MIDHANI are helping to build Telangana’s industrial base, he said.
Currently, Telangana is India’s fourth-largest economy. Reddy said the state is poised to climb to the third position soon. He concluded by expressing the Centre’s readiness to collaborate with the state and voiced hope that the summit would attract more investment to Hyderabad and Telangana.
