Hyderabad: Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan called for a shift towards Intelligent Warfare while addressing the MITRA seminar at the College of Defence Management.
Speaking at the Annual Seminar on ‘Multi-Domain Integrated Technologically-Empowered Resilient Armed Forces (MITRA)’, General Chauhan said warfare was expanding beyond physical battlefields into synthetic and cognitive domains. Therefore, he urged the Indian Armed Forces to move from net-centric operations to Intelligent Warfare.
He further stated that forces must progress beyond Multi-Domain Operations to All Realm All Domain Operations. According to him, this transition reflects the growing complexity of modern conflicts. He described the current phase as the “Third Revolution in Military Affairs” and highlighted the rise of Convergence Warfare, which integrates contact and non-contact, kinetic and non-kinetic, and traditional and emerging domains.

At the MITRA seminar, the CDS stressed the need for credible non-nuclear strategic deterrence. He said such capability would enable the nation to prevail at every level of escalation.
The two-day seminar was conducted in collaboration with the Indian School of Business as a knowledge partner. The event examined contemporary conflict lessons alongside India’s operational requirements. Discussions centred on self-reliance and structural reforms aimed at building forces that are multi-domain in vision, integrated in action, technology-empowered in execution and resilient in purpose.
Senior defence officials, scholars, industry representatives and practitioners participated in deliberations. Established in December 1970, the College of Defence Management remains a tri-service institution dedicated to advancing management practices in military leadership. Its annual seminars address strategic challenges, geopolitical shifts and leadership transformation to strengthen India’s military preparedness.
