Caste brutality infant death sparks Kavitha attack on government

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha alleged that a caste brutality infant death in Nagar Kurnool exposed the Congress government’s failure to protect vulnerable communities.

Speaking at the Rythu Sangarshana Sabha in Gadwal on Monday, she referred to the death of a two-month-old infant. The child allegedly died after being assaulted in the name of caste. She described the incident as a blot on Telangana and demanded immediate accountability.

“This is not just an incident; it is a crime against humanity. Caste-based brutality has no place in Telangana, and this government’s silence is shameful,” she said. She asserted that the caste brutality infant death reflected deeper social injustice.

Kavitha announced that all major Telangana Jagruthi programmes would now begin from Jogulamba Gadwal. She said the Nadigadda region had been neglected by successive governments. According to her, the region has been pushed to the margins despite its contribution to the state.

Caste brutality infant death and farmer issues dominate Gadwal meet

Kavitha also accused the government of ignoring farmers’ grievances. She alleged that seed cotton farmers in Nadigadda face harassment and delayed payments despite prior assurances. Therefore, she demanded that all pending dues be cleared within one week. Otherwise, she warned of a statewide agitation.

She criticised the policy of supplying power at midnight, saying it forced farmers to guard their fields at night. In addition, she accused the government of failing to supply urea fertiliser adequately. She questioned the push for app-based booking of fertilisers without ensuring access to smartphones.

Kavitha described the government’s farm loan waiver claims as misleading. She said promises were made to waive loans of 40 lakh farmers, but only 25 lakh benefited. According to her, 15 lakh farmers were left out, including small farmers with loans of ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh. She demanded a complete and unconditional waiver for all eligible farmers.

Later, she met the Gadwal District Collector and submitted a memorandum. She warned that if seed cotton farmers’ issues remain unresolved within a week, Telangana Jagruthi will launch road blockades across the district.
