Case registered against Dharmapuri Arvind over polling centre incident

Hyderabad: Police registered a case against Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind following an incident at a polling centre in the district.

The Election Commission examined the episode that occurred at Haricharan Marwadi School, where officials had set up a polling station. After reviewing the matter, 1 Town police initiated legal proceedings.

According to officers, the MP allegedly made inappropriate remarks against personnel deployed on polling duty. Sub-Inspector Gurram Narayana and Head Constables Govardhan and Srinivasulu filed formal complaints.

The complainants stated that BJP MP used objectionable language against police personnel and polling staff. They also alleged that he entered the polling station carrying cameras.

Dharmapuri Arvind faces charges under BNS provisions

Police invoked Sections 132, 223 and 296(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Dharmapuri Arvind. In addition, they applied Section 226 of the Telangana Municipalities Act, 2019.

Officials confirmed that investigators have begun collecting evidence related to the incident. Meanwhile, senior officers are supervising the probe.

Authorities said they will take further action based on the findings. The Election Commission continues to monitor developments in the case involving the Nizamabad MP.
