Hyderabad: A bomb threat email targeting the Bombay Stock Exchange’s Feroze Tower in South Mumbai triggered an immediate security response on Tuesday, adding to a growing list of hoax threats received across the country this week.
The threatening email, sent via the exchange’s official website from an ID identifying itself as “Comrade Pinayari Vijayan,” claimed that four RDX IEDs had been planted in the building and would detonate at 3 pm. Police and bomb squads reached the premises within minutes, evacuated staff, and launched a full search.
The area was secured and swept by the bomb detection and disposal squad. After hours of checks, Mumbai Police declared the email a hoax. A case has been registered at the Mata Ramabai Marg Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita. Investigators are tracing the origin of the email.
The threat came a day after multiple bomb hoaxes were reported in Delhi and Amritsar. Three schools in the capital received similar emails on Monday. Security agencies found no explosives, confirming those as hoaxes.
In Amritsar, the Golden Temple received a threat warning of an RDX attack targeting Darbar Sahib and the community kitchen. The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee lodged a formal complaint, and searches were conducted. No suspicious materials were found.
Condemning the threat, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said on social media platform X, “This is not just a threat to a religious site – it’s an attack on peace, faith & humanity.”
