BRS wins Ibrahimpatnam Kyathanapalli chairman elections

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi secured victory in BRS chairman elections in Ibrahimpatnam and Kyathanapalli municipalities on Saturday. The results ended uncertainty surrounding the election process.

In Ibrahimpatnam Municipality of Ranga Reddy district, BRS councillor T. Sudarshan Reddy was elected Chairman. Meanwhile, BJP councillor Muthyala Shyamala Bhaskar became Vice Chairperson.

The Chairman contest saw T. Sudarshan Reddy face Congress candidate Akula Yadagiri. Officials conducted the election through a show of hands. As a result, a majority of councillors supported the BRS candidate.

BRS chairman elections face objections in Ibrahimpatnam

Before the polling, Congress councillors raised objections and sought postponement. They cited pending court cases involving three councillors. However, officials rejected the demand and proceeded with the election.

They clarified that authorities issued the notification in line with High Court directions. Moreover, they stated that no legal barriers existed to stop the process. Therefore, officials completed the election and declared results.

The BRS chairman elections also delivered victory in Kyathanapalli Municipality in Mancherial district. BRS candidate Sandhya Rani was elected Chairperson. CPI candidate Saritha became Vice Chairperson.

Congress councillors abstained from the election in Kyathanapalli. Consequently, the BRS secured a clear win in the municipality.

In contrast, the election process in Khanapur Municipality faced fresh delays. Authorities postponed the election for Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson again due to ongoing controversy.
