Former ministers Srinivas Goud and Koppula Eshwar, along with party leader RS Praveen Kumar, submitted a formal complaint to the SEC. They alleged widespread municipal chairman poll irregularities during elections in 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations.

According to them, ruling Congress leaders resorted to money distribution and attacks. They also alleged misuse of police machinery to influence outcomes. Therefore, they urged the Commission to intervene and restore confidence in the process.
