BRS municipal victories signal resistance, says KTR

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K. T. Rama Rao said recent BRS municipal victories reflected growing public resistance against the Congress government in Telangana. He made the remarks at a party workers’ meeting in Ibrahimpatnam on Saturday. He alleged that despite irregularities, the BRS municipal victories demonstrated sustained public support for the party.

KTR criticised Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy, alleging that he would be remembered as a leader who deceived all sections of society. He further claimed that the people of Telangana would eventually reject both the Chief Minister and the Congress party.

BRS municipal victories follow contested elections

Referring to the municipal polls, KTR said the party secured wins in Ibrahimpatnam and Khaitanpally municipalities. He alleged that the elections were marked by nearly two months of irregularities and misuse of power.

He stated that even after the BRS won a majority of councillor seats, the Congress attempted to capture chairman posts through unethical means. However, he added that the outcomes ultimately favoured the BRS.

KTR said these BRS municipal victories proved that determined leadership continued to receive public backing. During the meeting, he felicitated newly elected chairpersons, councillors and sarpanches.

He also appreciated Prashanth Reddy, son of senior leader Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, for resisting alleged harassment and securing victory.

BRS municipal victories cited amid allegations on Pharma City

KTR launched a sharp attack on the state government over the Pharma City project. He alleged that the government was involved in a “land scam” under the project’s name.

He said Congress leaders had promised before the elections to return 14,000 acres acquired for Pharma City to farmers. However, he alleged that the government was now introducing concepts such as “Fourth City” or “Future City” to mislead them.

He further claimed that while the government acknowledged Pharma City in court, it simultaneously proposed a new project on the same land outside. He alleged that this created confusion over the project’s status.

KTR recalled that leaders including Bhatti Vikramarka, Seethakka and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had assured farmers during padyatras that land would be returned if the Congress came to power. He alleged that instead, the government now planned to acquire an additional 16,000 acres under a proposed “Bharat Future City.”

He termed the proposal a “drama” and alleged it was intended to benefit the Chief Minister’s family members and associates.

Senior leaders, including Ranga Reddy district president Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, former minister and MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy, MLA Sudheer Reddy and Bhuvanagiri Parliament in-charge Kyama Mallesh, attended the meeting.
