BRS land grabbing allegations trigger dharma yuddham call

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan alleged large-scale land encroachments and warned of a continued “dharma yuddham” against what he described as a land mafia operating under government cover.

He demanded the immediate release of BRS leaders, including T. Harish Rao, Savita Indra Reddy, and Dayakar Rao. He warned that party workers would mobilise in large numbers and lay siege wherever Harish Rao is held if authorities fail to release them.

Sravan issued a warning to landowners across Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Malkajgiri, and areas surrounding the proposed Future City project. He alleged that organised groups targeted vacant lands, created forged documents, and ignored court rulings to seize properties using official influence.

BRS land grabbing allegations focus on Nadargul case

The BRS land grabbing allegations centred on a land parcel in Nadargul, identified as Survey No. 613, measuring about 373 acres. Sravan stated that the Andhra Pradesh Land Reforms Act, 1974 required the land to vest with the government.

However, he alleged that private individuals took control of the land through illegal means. He said the government later allocated the land to TSIIC, while the RDO declared it as government land.

He further stated that the High Court, in a 2020 judgment, confirmed the land belonged to the government. Although a case remains pending before the Supreme Court, he said the High Court order continues to operate.

Despite this, he alleged that individuals fenced the land and began construction using forged documents.

BRS land grabbing allegations target officials and ministers

Sravan alleged that ministers and senior officials, who must protect government land, instead facilitated encroachments. He claimed that vested interests targeted land worth thousands of crores.

He cited areas such as Manasa Hills, Vattinagulapalli, and Nadargul as locations witnessing large-scale encroachments. He further alleged that groups threatened farmers and carried out attacks to seize land.

He also alleged that those involved diverted funds generated from such activities to elections in other states. He described the situation as a breakdown of democratic governance.

He questioned the silence of key leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar.

Sravan alleged that officials, including collectors, RDOs, and MROs, took part in the activities and should face criminal investigation. He demanded strict legal action against those who created forged documents and cheated landowners.

He said the Nadargul land issue reflected alleged collusion between the government and officials. He added that the legislature, executive, and judiciary were under strain.

He further alleged that the government appeared to function to promote real estate interests. He cited areas including Vemulakatta, Kukatpally, Kondapur, and Kothavalaguda as affected.

He urged the media to highlight the issue and warned that future generations risk losing land without intervention. He demanded the immediate removal of Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and called for cases under the Land Grabbing Act against ministers and officials.

He reiterated that the BRS would continue its agitation to protect public and private lands.
