BRS alleges land grab over Koheda fruit market

Hyderabad: BRS leaders on Monday alleged that the State government was targeting land earmarked for the Koheda fruit market for vested interests.

Former ministers T. Harish Rao and Sabitha Indra Reddy made the allegations after visiting the site in Ranga Reddy district. They accused the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of attempting to divert valuable land.

Sabitha Indra Reddy said the government was “eyeing valuable lands” instead of addressing public issues. She added that the Koheda fruit market was envisioned during the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to benefit farmers and local residents.

She further alleged that Congress leaders were attempting to encroach upon the same land. Therefore, she called on people to unite and protect the project. She also said the BRS would stand with farmers and local residents.

Koheda fruit market land diversion allegations

MLA Sudheer Reddy said authorities had allotted about 170 acres for the Koheda fruit market. He added that officials sanctioned funds to build the market to international standards.

However, he warned against any move to divert the land. He said such a decision would harm farmers and undermine the purpose of the project.

Meanwhile, former MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy alleged a “real estate conspiracy” involving ruling party leaders. He claimed that the government aimed to repurpose the land for other interests.

BRS leaders reiterated that they would intensify protests if authorities diverted the Koheda fruit market land. Moreover, they stressed that the project must proceed as originally planned.
