BRS criticises Governor speech in Telangana Assembly

Hyderabad: BRS leaders launched sharp Governor speech criticism in the Telangana Assembly, alleging the Congress government forced the Governor to present misleading claims.

The criticism followed the Governor’s address at the start of the Telangana Assembly Budget Session on Monday. Former minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy said the speech delivered by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla failed to reflect the realities in the state.

Speaking to the media at the Assembly, Prashanth Reddy alleged that the Congress government compelled the Governor to present falsehoods. He said the speech ignored major election promises made by the party.

According to him, the address made no reference to the Congress party’s “Six Guarantees” and the “420 promises” announced during the elections. Therefore, he described the speech as “hollow” and disconnected from public expectations.

Prashanth Reddy said the Governor’s address did not mention the promised ₹2,500 monthly financial assistance for women. In addition, he claimed the speech ignored concerns of farmers, unemployed youth and several vulnerable groups.

He said the address also failed to mention welfare measures for the elderly, widows and persons with disabilities. As a result, he argued that the government avoided discussing key commitments made to the public.

Governor speech criticism raised by BRS leaders in Assembly

The BRS leader also questioned the government’s claims regarding employment generation. He alleged that the Congress government stated it had provided 60,000 jobs.

However, according to Prashanth Reddy, only around 12,000 posts had actually been filled so far.

BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy echoed similar Governor speech criticism. He said the address did not mention the Six Guarantees even though the government was presenting its third budget after coming to power.

He referred to the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. According to him, the promised ₹15,000 assistance to farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme had not been disbursed.

Therefore, BRS leaders said they would continue raising these issues in the Assembly. They said the party would press the government until it fulfilled the promises made to the people.
